Read on for some important tips to help you enjoy the benefits of your Jiffy Steamer for as long as possible:
- Clean and rinse your steamer regularly:
- All steamers need to be cleaned and rinsed from time to time to remove limescale. We recommend our Jiffy Steamer descaler for cleaning the internal parts.
- Empty the water tank regularly:
- Empty the water tank after every use of the Jiffy Steamer. This will prevent the water in the tank from developing an unpleasant odour and stop limescale from building up inside the appliance.
- Clean the steam nozzle:
- The steam nozzle can become blocked by particles (such as dust) from the garments. Clean the steam nozzle regularly with a soft brush to ensure that the steam can escape properly.
- Never use additives:
- Additives such as salt, vinegar, bleach, perfumes and colourants must never be added to the water. These substances damage or block the internal parts.
- Never allow the steamer to run dry:
- Allowing the steamer to run dry will cause internal damage to the heating element and the wiring.
- Never pour cold water into a hot steamer:
- If the steamer has accidentally run out of water, allow it to cool down before adding water. Pouring cold water onto a hot heating element can damage it.
- Steam in an upright position:
- Do not use the steamer in a horizontal position like an iron. Steam using an upright, top-to-bottom motion. This ensures that any condensation in the tube flows back into the steamer.
- Tighten the hose nut securely:
- If your steamer is fitted with a hose connection, use the fitting key to ensure the nut is tightened securely at the base of the steamer.
- Never use an extension lead:
- Extension leads must not be used with this product. Using an extension lead may cause damage to the power cable and the steamer’s internal wiring.
- Do not pull the vaporiser by the power cable:
- If you pull the vaporiser by the power cable, the internal wiring may be damaged.
- Never use your foot to switch the vaporiser on or off:
- The power switch may be damaged if you switch the appliance off by pressing the switch with your foot.
- Empty the garment steamer before storing it:
- Before storing the garment steamer for an extended period (30 days or more), you must empty all the water from the appliance. Over time, the water becomes stale and can clog the internal parts. Store the garment steamer in a cool, dry place to prevent mould growth and other potential damage.
